The Person:
Father, Singer, Acoustic Guitarist, Songwriter, Live Performer.
The Location:
Chicago, Illinois.
The Beginning:
After college joining his first band Alt/Metal quintuple named Self-Inflicted as rhythm/lead guitarist Magneen entered into an entirely new venture with veteran seasoned performers who were his same age. He had much less experience and no stage time to speak of. Out of necessity his playing and live presence improved and soon he realized that he was capable of singing also. He founded his own rock group Paper Airplanes of Fire and quickly began gigging the local circuit. Magneen focused on performing original songs and covers at gigs for ten years in a regionally successful rock band. For a number of years this was his primary income. As any musician will tell you being able to provide a living with your voice and/or instrument is a huge feeling of accomplishment and some desperation mixed with a large helping of determination. This process led to slots opening for nationally touring bands such as Losing Scarlet, Saliva, Charm City Devils, Otherwise, and Smile Empty Soul.
The Change:
Upon becoming a Father Magneen decided to move away from his full electric band and became exclusively an acoustic artist. This decision has allowed for more flexibility in scheduling with the delicate balance of Fatherhood and Rockstar life. It also allowed for more opportunities and freedom to create songs that have been well received and often mistaken as covers with less reliance on the bombastic volume of the full band to carry the show. This decision also led to the most productive and active years Magneen had ever experienced and continues to this day.
The Result:
Magneen has performed acoustically at 103.9 FM The Fox Studios, live on air with WYLL 99.9FM, Live at the 95.1 FM WILLROCK Studios, 95 WILL Rock live events BANDEMONIUM, 95.1 FM NYE Bashes, 95.1 FM Valentines Day Dinners. Some of the venues he has performed at include The Rave Milwaukee, The Brat Stop, Route 20, Austin's IMPACT Fuel Room, Durty Nellie's, Kenosha County Fair Grounds, Penny Road Pub, and countless others. As a solo Acoustic artist he has also opened for Royal Bliss and Saint Tragedy.
The Future:
Magneen will continue to write music and perform live until his last days. It isn't a hobby for him. Music is an addiction for him. Music has proven to be the only rewarding addiction that exists for him.
